Bedding & Towels Advisory Service

As my business has grown, it has become apparent that many clients value advice with regards to what type of towels and bedding they should purchase, as of course this involves quite a lot of expense, so much more beneficial to get it right first time, as opposed to learning the hard way that certain types of material and designs simply don't wear well undergoing the rigours of continual laundering and pressing.

Bedding/Towels Advisory Service #01

Well, where would we recommend you to start looking for good quality, durable bedding which will withstand the rigours of constant laundering?

We always recommend Out of Eden as their linen and towels are hotel quality standard, they are a local supplier, competitive on price, and we have always enjoyed excellent service from them.

General Tips on Buying:

Of course there are many suppliers of very beautiful bedding, and here are a few general tips which work for all on things best avoided when using a professional laundry, as they have been known to cause the odd hiccup:

Beware of any duvet cover containing lace or elaborate frills - lace has a tendency to rip eventually, and although we can hand press for you, there is an additional charge for this, and we also find that sometimes guests can inadvertently put holes in lace too which spoils the look long before it would otherwise be worn out!

Although white bedding and towels may seem rather rash to the uninitiated, the majority of the bed linen we process is white, although it is true to say we do launder a whole myriad of colours. In our experience, the benefit of having white towels particularly, is that marks are easily seen and subsequently can be easily treated, and on the fairly rare occasions that towels are very badly marked we can try and bleach them to rid them of the stain, an advantage they have over every other colour!

Plastic duvet fastenings are best avoided, as they can and eventually do melt on the presses. Button fastenings or stainless steel poppers (as often supplied on linen by Out of Eden) solve this problem quite nicely. Some duvet covers are put together with just an additional flap of material which folds over at the bottom fairly similar to a pillowcase which negates any risk altogether.

I thought I would give South Lakes Laundry a try, and I'm so glad I did, the service is second to none, it's reliable, it's taken all the worry of the laundry from my mind, and visitors often comment on how wonderful and fresh the bedding feels and smells!

Here at South Lakes Laundry we are always happy to offer help and advice to hotels, guest houses, cottage owners and accommodation providers with regards to which particular towels and bedding may suit their needs best.
